This cover of John Mayer's classic 2006 hit single was produced using protools in 2024. Along with engineers Chris Burgmaier and Gabe Liddell, I sought to recreate the song, making it sound as close to the original as possible. I really dug into how the original engineers captured the smooth, buttery guitar tone and the crisp, seemingly raw timbre of Mayor's vocals. The cover was made in the historic Columbia Studio A on Music Row and was the first time I incorporated live drums onto a song. I had fun experimenting with different microphones and miking techniques. A huge shout out to the musicians who made this possible.
